[At some point, Vane will return to his rooms to find a gift. It's a rapier, well-made and elegantly designed. The steel shines brightly when he pulls it from the scabbard, and while there's nothing so fussy as filigree on the handle and guard, the curve of the knuckle bow is graceful and beautiful, forming a cage to protect the hand. The only bit of flash is the pommel, a deep, arresting sapphire blue, though on close inspection it seems to be a well-polished stone, not an actual gem. There's no note.]
Vane studies the gift for a long moment, then he picks it up and gives it a few swing, grinning. It is a beautiful blade and good to use as well. He heads down to the training area to give it a test run and after that, he can be found with it on his hip pretty much always.
