Amused, she says in a low, scratchy voice, "Sure I do."
She sits on the edge of the bed, perched like a small bird--one who expects to flit off after a worm at any moment. She regards Vane with her head tipped slightly to one side.
Ava accepts the glass and takes a hearty swig--though the careful observer will note that she doesn't actually swallow very much. The rest sloshes back.
"There's worse around here than 1832?"
She shakes her head, smiling at him over the glass' rim.
"I mean, I'm not worried, if it helps." She may be de-powered, but she likes her odds in a fight. She's scrappy! "I don't think you're gonna break my heart."
"I am not aware of it was then." or will be in his case. But he shrugs. "I mean, I can get people some people. They married here because one of them died where they are from. But everyone else... No clue."
"Do you think they're gonna go Hallmark channel on you?" A pause, as she realizes that reference probably doesn't land. "These guys you're sleeping with, are they psycho jealous?"
Sorry Charles, her bedside manner has some rust on it.
Vane shakes his head. "Shouldn't be. One is married, another one is dating someone else here. The rest of them... They know it is all just sex." What else could they want from him after all?
