Yeah, why not. It is really nice and both isn't so hard and is at the same time. The basics are not very hard, that more about understanding what ropes connect to what, but the details are harder. The bits that are about understanding how close to the wind you can go, how much sail to let out all of that is... well it takes understanding and when you get that, well it is freeing.
No. And it can be freeing as fuck. At least it was for me. Are you more interested in the physical work of sailing or the more ... well navigation, reading the weather, stuff like that?
Alright. Let's start with sailing since I find it easier to teach. It is stuff like figuring out what rope goes where and stuff like that. Most ships have the same basic layout there and it is important to know that when a captain says to take in the fore stay you know what rope to pull.
